UJL is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth and development of Uganda’s youth through the sports disciplines of FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TENNIS and SWIMMING at different levels of age and competition. Our job is also to make it fun, and still in the young players a lifelong passion for sports.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To provide a safe, fun and progressive learning environment to develop recreational and competitive kids football, tennis, swimming and basketball players to the best of their ability.
UJL's primary goal is to give our kids the opportunity to develop their skills needed to play, compete and achieve now and in the future. The purpose philosophy of the organisation is that playing sports should be a positive and supportive learning experience for children.
From its humble beginnings, founded by Ssendagire Charles in 2003 with just 60 boys to its current registration of more than 800 boys and girls; the UJL has always been recognized as a leader in local youth sports organisations.
The national administration of UJL is conducted by a five member Board of Directors with an Executive committee consisting of a President, Vice President, Administrator/Secretary, Treasurer, Sports Commissioners, Sponsorship Coordinator, League Commissioner and a Patron.
We provide a fun, safe and health game for ALL KIDS… big kids, little kids, tall kids, short kids, older kids…kids who want to play fro one season, kids who want to play for twenty seasons, kids who play strictly for fun and kids who want to compete at the highest level possible.
Kids are different and because they are different their physical, social and psychological needs are different. We at UJL we recognize this and our FOOTBALL, SWIMMING, TENNIS and BASKETBALL programs aimed at meeting the different needs of ALL KIDS.
UJL is a member of a much larger football, swimming, baseball and basketball community sanctioned by the National Council of Sports, a ruling governing body for sports in Uganda. UJL activities are also sanctioned by FUFA (Federation of Uganda Football Association), FUBA (Federation of Uganda Basketball Association) and the Uganda Swimming Federation.
